Where dose Islamic Fashion belong within western mainstream culture ? About The ExhibitionFashion plays a big part of todays culture and is often seen as part of our identity. Society has been teaching girls what to wear from a young age and often this affects young Muslim girls who want to follow Islamic teachings and follow the mainstream fashion trends. This is where modest Islamic fashion comes in. This exhibition looks at modest fashion covering issues around media, advertising and Islamophobia. Works Of ArtFloor PlanThis is my exhibition floor plan. Even thought it in an open room where visitors are about to walk around, the exhibition is layout to tell in a order that is the same as my essay. The exhibition start with the installation and end at image from the H&M advert. The ideas is that is the exhibition starts off showing media and social stereotypes about muslims, then the show women in the muslim community showing conturing the stereotypical views. Next to this you have a stand/slideshow where women visiting the exhibition are able to show there personal achievement, giving them the opportunity to not only break stereotypes but also show that "women can do what men can", this brings in the idea of feminism. The next part of the exhibition is another stand were women who do not already wear the hijab are given the opportunity to wear one and see how they feel. They can then take a picture in the photo area which they take home with them straight way. This stand will also be where my project will be given out. After this there will be a pictures of Nabia (this showed have been where there the picture of Bajis Chohan is on the plan. Accidentally placed them the wrong way round ) to show a inspirational figure for muslim girls. Next to this image will be a picture of the work of Bajis chohan to show that muslim fashion designer do exist but they are not as will know in the wider community. The final image if of the muslim H&M model, I put this last to answer the "what if" question, what if Islamic fashion was mainstream? and to show was companies are doing and are recognising that the hijabies and muslim shoppers are felt out. Even though that the instructive elements are mainly focused at women, my target audience if both genders, male and female and for both muslims and non-muslims. As I think that everyone can learn something from this exhibition. My aim is to break stereotypes and create understanding between different groups of people. ProductPresentation feedback notesWe worked in Groups (Jessica, Mariyam, Noorjahan and I) to create an online exhibition.

To start of this project we went to the Caurtauld Gallery. We looked at the different way objects and painting are displayed and stared to thing about the different things are considered when curating such as lighting, preservation, interpretation, layout and health and safety. In the first room we want to (medieval and renaissance in Europe) I notice the colour of the room was a dark blue which .worked well with the gold in the seen in the display. We learnt that the room was kept at a certain temperature in order to help preserve the paintings and artifacts. In this room we looked at the Islamic and European metalwork display. when looking closely at the display I noticed that the objects had repeat patterns going all the way round. Therefore the objects do not need to displayed in a way that viewers can walk around it. The display makes the views look at 3D objects in a 2D. Another object that caught may attention was a metalwork bag from Northern Iran (1300-1330). You are able to view the object from all side and see all the different detail. Having said this, on side it was hard to see the details as it was in a shadow . This was due to the lighting in the room and that the object is itself was tilled allowing the viewers to see the top of the bag. We then looked at the Ivory collected. The display is eye level and in a glass case which reflects the light helping to preserves the ivory. There is also good lighting to allow visitors to clearly see the engravings. On both the Ivory and Islamic and European metalwork display the label are under the objects/artifacts. Next to each object there is a number which helps the viewers the find the correct label. We then went to the Impressionism and Renaissance rooms and further looked at how artifacts and painting are display. In one of the rooms that we looked at We were asked to think about room some of the thing we came up with were:
At the Gallery has a lot of historical painting and artifacts. We learnt that that the Gallery has kept some of the original features of the building from when it used to be institute. On the ceiling you can see the letters 'R' and 'A' which was the initial if the institute. We final thing that we looked at was the label. These were mostly between 100-400 words, which include:
During our visit to the we looked at the exhibition space. We learnt that the Design Museum have been trying to design exhibitions so that they are more interactive - makes visitor more engaged with the exhibition but still delivers information. One of the ways they have done this with this exhibition is by partnering up with the Microsoft. They placed a table near the front of the exhibitions with 40 Lumia 640 XL. Visitors can take one and walk around the exhibition. and tap the phone where there is orange tags that say "tap here" on the screen more information will appear, Which includes further background about the product, the materials used, the product’s designers, what the judges thought about the design, and why it was a category winner. Visitors can also “join the debate” by answering questions and giving their opinion of each design. Key Term - Service Design : Looking at how people behave and trying to come up with ideas relating to there behavior. We observed visitors (each other) and there interactions the exhibitions and found :
We then thought of some way that could make the experience better for visitors :
